The Academic Support curriculum is based on the Michigan Department of Education identification of academic study skills/needs for Michigan High School Special Education students. The grading scale is based on points with 59% or below resulting in an "F".
Vocabulary will consist of the 300 most common words, the 200 most misspelled words in the English language and the Dolch word list. Also included will be vocabulary related to job related transition.
Current Events will be completed on a daily basis.
Note taking skills will be taught/used on a daily basis.
Rewards are related to classroom behaviors that will be required skills students use in the general ed setting.
Activities include team-builders and simulations that help to foster growth in the areas of communication and peer/teacher interaction skills.
